To YB: During the Cold War, America supported the Islamists in their fight against the Soviets in Afghanistan. The result of this, I think, was the fall of the Soviet Union without any nuclear exchange; however, it gave the Islamists the confidence to come after the United States. Was it worth it, given the 9/11 attack?
