My boyfriend, an ardent Objectivist, said that if he ever meets a woman of greater value to him than myself, he would not hesitate to leave me for her. I understand he is acting on the principle of self-interest, but how then can one have a long-term relationship with anyone? Does self-interest mean no commitment?
